Graduate Placement Assistance

What efforts do you undertake to help students find placements after graduation?

Our Career Services Department is dedicated to providing job search information and assistance to equip graduates with the tools necessary to seek out the right salon to begin their career. The department takes an active role throughout the students training to provide employment referrals during their training program.

The department develops and maintains job placement guidance and assistance through a structured, detailed program encompassing job development skills such as interviewing, and salon/spa selection. The department also focuses on resume assistance, and career-oriented classes that foster and encourage professional relationships with the salon industry through our Advisory Committees. Based on the professional relationship with the industry, the Academies have established a referral process which ultimately results in an extensive lead/referral base for students to access when they are eligible for employment.

Career Services offers lifetime placement assistance to its graduates. Our intent is to maintain a close relationship through our Alumni Association with our graduates and remind them that the department is always ready to assist them with any employment questions or referrals.

We have taken it a step further by introducing an Externship program that parallels the “real world” work experiences gained during 4-year college internships. We have partnered with A-plus salons and spas to give spa nail, esthetician and cosmetology students practical experience in a live employment setting under the supervision of licensed professionals in the field. The partnership between the salon, school and student affords an opportunity for future industry professionals to learn from the best while at the same time creating an opportunity for our partners to mentor and mold their future employees.

The young talent is the future of our industry and having this program that the Poway Academy has implemented just gives the student one more opportunity to excel and help elevate this profession.
