“Experience of a lifetime at Poway Academy of Hair Design... My name is Felecia; I started attending Poway Academy in September of 2006 as a cosmetology student. I visited and talked to many different school advisors, and found Poway Academy had everything I was seeking in a school environment. The first major attraction was the diversity of the school. I knew this was what I needed in order to gain the type of personal experience that would make me successful. Secondly, the school was setup in different phases which helped me to maximize my learning ability. The final phase seemed like I was working in an actual salon instead of a school atmosphere. This made the school more enjoyable. The third thing that helped me to choose Poway Academy was the confidence of the instructors. They all told me not to worry about passing my state board test, because they would have me well prepared. I later found out Poway had one of the highest passing rates in Southern California. Needless to say, I passed the state board test with ease.

Throughout the school year, Poway Academy would offer many different opportunities that would help me to become a better student. They offer the Design team, Master Artistic Team, and Externship Program just to name a few. I joined the Design team, which is a team of students that has great attendance and high academic grades. This team allowed me to go around the San Diego county area and volunteer my service to the misfortunate, fashion shows, high schools and many other events. I received many benefits from being apart of this team. I was able to receive extra college hours, gain more experience for my volunteer work, and give back to the San Diego community. After being a member of the Design Team I continued my education by trying out for the Master Artistic Team. This team consisted of five members that would have extensive training with world renowned artistic director of Poway Academy. His name is Diego Raviglione and I was so lucky to be selected as one of the members after a very intense tryout. After being selected as a member of this team, I was able to learn defined haircutting techniques, wonderful hair coloring techniques, participate in creating a trend collection and photo shoot, and it also gave me the opportunity to meet many highly sought after stylists to learn from them. This team was a great stepping stone toward my success. Poway Academy has an outstanding school environment and has helped me to reach all my short term goals. Now I am self employed and maintaining my own clientele.”
